I seldom buy much fabric unless it is something I consider to be quite impressive. I bought a whole panel of this quilt fabric for just $3.75. Let me show you some of the design squares before I show what I made from them.</font></p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-nnYWuSxiruI/TmhAj7IjYxI/AAAAAAAAAnY/b2CSrnDBXeI/s1600-h/007%25255B14%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="007" border="0" alt="007" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-WZya9IvwD98/TmhAkwlGJ2I/AAAAAAAAAnc/LVUD70GV2PI/007_thumb%25255B19%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="462" height="576"></a></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> I bought the fabric to make kitchen items for my daughters first home. Her entire kitchen is done in a coffee theme. And has the feel of a true espresso café. She has many different patterns in her kitchen but all keep with a same color scheme. I used my panel of fabric to create Place mats and kitchen towels to add to her collection. I had never made placemats before but they were very easy. Here is my first attempt.</font></p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-ISAlFI00XVA/TmhAnjpsBpI/AAAAAAAAAng/P1bW8Th_-mA/s1600-h/003%25255B15%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="003" border="0" alt="003" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-P7zQYoRExyw/TmhAoVab07I/AAAAAAAAAnk/BSoS7AjVoIQ/003_thumb%25255B21%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="459" height="317"></a></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> And here are some more…..</font></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-EDpVp4cpLQs/TmhAqJtPjHI/AAAAAAAAAno/EKLoaT3PhUU/s1600-h/004%25255B13%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="004" border="0" alt="004" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-7Ps2M-w-zWg/TmhAqzKlWwI/AAAAAAAAAns/ei377vkZ9WY/004_thumb%25255B15%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="461" height="303"></a></p> <p> <font size="5" face="Gabriola"> I wanted to use as much of the fabric as possible to carry the theme, and when I couldn’t make another placemat I finished up with coffee towels. These are baby blankets that sell at Walgreens for about a dollar. They are are actually sold in three packs for three dollars a pack. When I looked at them I noticed they had a blanket stitch to finish them and a blanket stitch can be a great anchor for a simple crocheted border. so I bought a couple of packs eons ago. I added a border while watching TV. And like I said in an earlier post I turn all my small bits of yarn into roses and leaves that I can pull out and add to a project on a whim.</font></p> <p> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-E2pdA3D7syY/TmOgYdcFrPI/AAAAAAAAAlw/wlxj3m51Jx8/s1600-h/001%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="001" border="0" alt="001" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-P1PsCFKkA-8/TmOgZAQN9lI/AAAAAAAAAl0/-T52CnnPyZ0/001_thumb%25255B15%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="463" height="405"></a></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola">They come in lots of patterns in pinks blues and yellows. This is a very fast project, and can be completed using up scrap yarn. They make great baby shower gifts too.</font></p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-JwalM7heaIA/TmOgaatBp_I/AAAAAAAAAl4/sqAa-RD-QMU/s1600-h/002%25255B13%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="002" border="0" alt="002" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-l5HcFJ44eXE/TmOgbN7X1ZI/AAAAAAAAAl8/exY2piO2Soo/002_thumb%25255B14%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="460" height="448"></a></p> <p> <font size="5" face="Gabriola">I didn’t want to post a border stitch pattern because I seldom use the same one and I make them up as I go. But what I'm showing is something I consider amazing.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> Anyone who has had these built in wire shelves could tell you they can be very hard to to stack cans on. My cans were constantly falling. I thought I was the only one having these issues until I read a blog where a guy who had the same problem claimed to have the answer. If you can believe this he was using bungee cords to keep his can goods on these wire shelves. He was running dollar store bungee cords across each shelf for each row of canned goods and securing the cords on the vertical poles holding the shelves up. Boy did that look messy.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> My idea was to reuse the wood from a collapsed set of of book shelves I had bought at wally world. Adding a plank to each shelf. They already were the perfect width. They were already painted a lovely shade of black so all that was left was to cut them to length.</font></p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-B_qzlcF8nn4/Tl7VfMrC3OI/AAAAAAAAAlg/r6RfMaF7s8U/s1600-h/02612.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="026" border="0" alt="026" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-ud46UviXhmw/Tl7Vft7S2-I/AAAAAAAAAlk/1CnbHXH3CG0/026_thumb13.jpg?imgmax=800" width="463" height="359"></a></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> This project was very simple and it solved the problem of falling cans. I can now stack my shelves three high if I want. I will go back and touch up the seam pieces with black paint but I love the look and the shelves themselves are so much more usable.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> Have a great week..With love from the Victorian Rabbit.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"></font> </p> <p><a href="http://lambaround.blogspot.com"><img alt="BWS tips button" src="http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/af203/dnluna/NotBaaadSundaysButton.jpg" width="90" height="90"></a><a href="http://www.flamingotoes.com" target="_blank"><img alt="" src="http://www.flamingotoes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/ThinkPink_Button150.gif" width="83" height="83"></a><a title="Thirty Hand Made Days" href="http://thirtyhandmadedays.com" _mce_href="http://thirtyhandmadedays.com"><img style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-top: medium none; border-right: medium none" alt="Thirty Hand Made Days" src="http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l148/kha02a/30days-button.png" width="81" height="81" _mce_src="http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l148/kha02a/30days-button.png" _mce_style="border: none;"></a><a href="http://ninthstreetnotions.blogspot.com"><img border="0" src="http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb403/Amanda_Brandenberg/IMadeItButton.jpg" width="78" height="78"></a><a href="http://www.delicateconstruction.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i780.photobucket.com/albums/yy82/mrsmichellebarbour/dcbutton.jpg" width="85" height="85"></a> <a href="http://boogieboardcottage.blogspot.com" target="_blank"><img alt="Boogieboard Cottage" src="http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy117/jacquesfamily52/Boogieboardcottagehtmlbagde-4-2-1.jpg" width="72" height="73"></a><a href="http://www.homemakeronadime.com/"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHFuAxEuTxlqnzYyXwZPT64ie6DQ82bot-9iEDHVM91uj7VXThtLVDfCh2-4cNjppS44ULitKABmVqhTEKpeul6CMffoIpa4TVRNpGVg2IRPWpYdm7VWOHwMVczwKxpRjzG8McebblZfqy/" width="68" height="68"></a><a href="http://linda-coastalcharm.blogspot.com/" target="_blank" border="0"><img src="http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r87/mmoo1978/LindaBtn.png" width="70" height="70"></a></p> <center><a href="http://jasmine-aboverubies.blogspot.com/search/label/Domestically%20Divine%20Link-Up"><img src="http://i669.photobucket.com/albums/vv54/jasminecucuta/HealthyMoms-1-1.jpg" width="72" height="102"></a><a href="http://www.theshabbycreekcottage.com" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Transformation Thursday" src="http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb119/tightwadtips/TTsmall-1.jpg" width="90" height="83"></a><a href="http://thebrambleberrycottage.blogspot.com/"><img border="0" src="http://i973.photobucket.com/albums/ae217/brambleberrycottage/800px-The_clock_tower_of_St_Mori-1.jpg" width="74" height="87"></a><a style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em" href="http://firefliesandjellybeans.blogspot.com/search/label/Show%20Off%20Your%20Stuff%20Party" target="blank" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxUhv5GKdhUPA4kAtGys5wJj1bPcaR9Q5OlafHawmA9vc8fOBqI3KjkAI_nnklO1dCvSsP6h07UFXUa5e8HYnLJvdXom4OTnbJldZ5oJL_rm0bjMZajBEWwTWsnbRaJvU7_38PH2Z7mE8/s200/Show+off+your+Stuff+party+button.JPG" width="51" height="52"></a></center> <center><a href="http://nightowlcrafting.blogspot.com/"><img border="0" alt="NightOwlCrafting" src="http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g354/lesliejorgensen82/NightOwlCraftingwhobutton.jpg" width="63" height="63"></a></center> Lorriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09116071641633924142noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065044097253471417.post-8223241744252014242011-08-27T11:44:00.001-07:002011-09-07T21:58:23.934-07:00Little Towels for Christmas Gifts<p> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-nX_p1Yqlnvo/Tlk660fz7XI/AAAAAAAAAlI/csGoZTKrFSM/s1600-h/013%25255B14%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="013" border="0" alt="013" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-AmCNAoUmeY0/Tlk67qcD2bI/AAAAAAAAAlM/LizgsWWUfRk/013_thumb%25255B16%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="461" height="497"></a></p> <p> <font size="5" face="Gabriola"> The Bunnies' been busy…. Here are some Christmas towels I have made. The towels were purchased at the Dollar Tree. I found the border print at Wally World. I just love snowmen. I made many sets of same color towels but am showing both color designs.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> Because the towels have a serger kind of blanket stitch They are very easy to add a crocheted border to. When I first tried these I made the project much harder than it needed to be adding interfacing behind the border prints. It is not needed, and so much easier not to use.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola">The borders were cut then a trim fabric was added to each side. I kept the fabric in large rolls while the trims awaited their turn to adorn.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> I measured the towels and marked with chalk to get the right placement and sewed the seam. And of course she had some new and great ideas. Sherrie created the pattern and spent several hours folding the Cd Covers made entirely of sheet music. While she was doing this I covered the perfect chip board covers. I am very new to altered art although I really like it. Together we created this……..</font></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-kzI0od-8yME/TjH_1qMs_sI/AAAAAAAAAjg/QNO_usx36BU/s1600-h/006%25255B22%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="006" border="0" alt="006" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-LU1sYXS4xug/TjH_2VC52oI/AAAAAAAAAjk/OwZdPqaL_bQ/006_thumb%25255B20%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="459" height="368"></a></p> <p> <font size="5" face="Gabriola">Funny after we got it done I realized the only words that can be read of the music were “Thy Dreaming Heart”, and I liked that. My sister is the master of finding the music that best soothes the soul at any given time. And the music she shares with me always has a deeper meaning. At this point in my life I have decided to lighten up. To lighten up my house, lighten up my garden chores and lighten up my spirit. And take some time to do some things I have wanted to for years and never made the time. During her visit we chopped down ten years of growth from vines growing next to my house and we both amazed how much brighter my front room became instantly. I have spent the last week clearing the dead wood from my yard. And will continue to clear my life of things that no longer work for me. My next project is to convert an extra bedroom into the craft room I have always wanted. With lavender walls and floral designs that don’t need so much tending. A place to relax and create. I had a huge open space in the dividing wall which ran the living room and formal dining room together. I wanted originally to put in low shutters to divide the space, but the cut out was such an odd size the shutters would have to be custom made. This was not currently in the budget. My friend had a similar problem, she wanted to divided her living room from her kitchen. Hers also was an odd size. I got the idea to cut long thin rod iron bed posts to use as rods. I cut one for her then one for me. She has really cute little chef curtains on one side and checks on the other. She used clips with rings to put hers up. I just sewed mine. A piece can be purchased at Lowe’s that hangs the rods in these kind of odd spaces. Here is my version.</font></p> <p> <font size="5" face="Gabriola">All the strange lights in these pictures are from my crystal chandelier, purchased from Goodwill new and still in the box for $11.00.</font></p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-cQ1IsFlZLxA/Tf0VcqrAreI/AAAAAAAAAfE/uEUHpTUD8s0/s1600-h/001%25255B24%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="001" border="0" alt="001" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-bhbaI5CvnzE/Tf0VdHcmvWI/AAAAAAAAAfI/wBd1nBftZP4/001_thumb%25255B27%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="466" height="659"></a></p> <p> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-1IRMcCqN7CA/Tf0Vdje1O_I/AAAAAAAAAfM/ySByA21aAXw/s1600-h/005%25255B15%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="005" border="0" alt="005" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-EGYuz_3d3fo/Tf0VgjoZALI/AAAAAAAAAfQ/LxVc6Y95SKY/005_thumb%25255B20%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="464" height="482"></a></p> <p> <font size="5"><font face="Gabriola"><em> </em>I<em> have been working on redoing my dining room It is actually my favorite room as it is where we do all birthday and family parties. We are taking on more side projects to generate a little more cash. Well The Victorian Rabbit is sharing her little project for the week.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> I 'am catering a get together for 100 people today. We are having fried chicken and ham. Lots of salad's, fruit and veggie trays rolls baked Beans (boy they smell good). And a full sheet decorated cake with the sweetest message. We are making purple Hats for babies to help educate new parents about the period of purple crying. It is a normal but frustrating time when babies tend to cry more in the first few weeks and months of life. The purple hats will be given to new parents at Seattle Children's Hospital (as well as nine other hospitals) in the month of November, as a reminder not to shake your baby to get them to stop crying. Frustration with crying is the number one reason a parent shakes and harms a baby. I' am a new blogger and still make newbie mistakes sometimes, like accidently posting the same thing on a link party three times. How does someone do that you may ask? As soon as I figure that out I will let you know. If this was your link party….sorry again. I want to also say thank you for all the new followers this week. My goal is to build this blog into something amazing, and I want you to know I appreciate every one of you. With Love from The Victorian Rabbit</font>.</p> Lorriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09116071641633924142noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2065044097253471417.post-91885251736516989182011-06-06T13:26:00.000-07:002011-06-10T22:47:20.919-07:00Fun Flip Flops<p> </p> <p> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Rt5ja4kAFic/Te2Tmh21UlI/AAAAAAAAAZs/i2mvwfAYh2o/s1600-h/0016.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="001" border="0" alt="001" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-PKINB8MbL3I/Te2Tnhm3geI/AAAAAAAAAZw/6xcpluTeVfQ/001_thumb6.jpg?imgmax=800" width="464" height="339"></a></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> A couple of years ago I hit an end of the summer sale at Michael’s. They were selling their entire stock of blank flip flops for $1.00 a pair. So I stocked up. I have made a lot of sets of my imitation Marabou style.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> To Make these you simply start single crocheting at one end of the strap and continue to the other side of strap. Keep bunching stitches together as you go to make sure your design is full. The yarn I purchased at the dollar store. One skein will make two pairs. Making the total cost of this project $1.50 per pair. I have made them in colors to to match my nightgowns too, then used them as house slippers.</font></p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-WTivV4TaETY/Te2ToPnvHAI/AAAAAAAAAZ0/lxI2pukVHlk/s1600-h/0029.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="002" border="0" alt="002" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-AzDLQQ1G6Vc/Te2Tokr66MI/AAAAAAAAAZ4/2Da1raxDyPo/002_thumb9.jpg?imgmax=800" width="463" height="329"></a></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> The next style is done by wrapping fabric from one end of the strap to the other, gluing both ends with hot glue and finishing with a shoe clip. Super easy project. I used fabric and shoe clips I already had. Total cost of this pair is $1.00.</font></p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-nApnrYb3p6c/Te2TpOvvWoI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/7AmxlAEGXdY/s1600-h/0056.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="005" border="0" alt="005" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-xTzVEE_1lfA/Te2TpqN5ZAI/AAAAAAAAAaA/YCbF92si6Yc/005_thumb6.jpg?imgmax=800" width="465" height="344"></a></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> Please don’t look at my polish it’s almost dry so I can clean it up a bit. I know what your thinking , you can buy those anywhere. But no I wanted very cheap.. err…. inexpensive ones. Found these at Goodwill for $2.00. (there are actually two of these). It’s like they knew I was coming. Sold! I took home my little treasures in their beat up walnut stage. I painted them with primer and then with black spray paint. I hung them on my wall. Of A Closet Collector<p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-QN9p0E10O0Y/Tem0m9paMBI/AAAAAAAAAZM/H46MT1VmoS8/s1600-h/011%25255B16%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; question is is probably “” do you collect closets?” No but I use a closet to home my collection of old dolls. I buy old dolls from the forties and fifties usually with ugly or no clothes and take them home and put them in my closet until the day I have time to make them feel new and special with a brand new outfit.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> In my childhood my mother believed if you got something new you must give up something old. A great house keeping idea, but one day you wake up and realize you have nothing at all from your childhood except one Barbie that survived only through a twist of fate. Then like the baby boomers you start to buy back a few little pieces from your past. I would be embarrassed to say how many dolls I have at this point. but lets just say a lot. Most quietly waiting for their chance to become real again.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> When I was young we spent a lot of time at Swap Meets, it is how my father earned enough extra money to start several businesses. There was a lady who came every week and just sold dolls. Well not just dolls, but dolls in beautiful handmade dresses. I always told myself that is what I want to do when I grow up. And now I'm living the dream. It is funny how much other people can inspire you without ever being the wiser. This woman truly inspired me.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> These dresses were made to be worn by some old Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls I purchased a few years ago. The dolls above I call my mannequins as they are about the same size. The dress designs started out with vintage style patterns that I changed and altered . I hope you enjoy. </font></p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Igt_xGiwANw/Tem0n3Of7dI/AAAAAAAAAZU/qoqn4MKMeqk/s1600-h/014%25255B13%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="014" border="0" alt="014" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-BPHHJ7av7Aw/Tem0ofLgdKI/AAAAAAAAAZY/CMjfzuwOoH4/014_thumb%25255B14%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="450" height="746"></a></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-enOM70231-c/Tem0opRdDxI/AAAAAAAAAZc/nh22P72iJx8/s1600-h/016%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="016" border="0" alt="016" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-C419bC82B3Q/Tem0pDQ-tBI/AAAAAAAAAZg/L9q16wxekjY/016_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="452" height="708"></a></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-4TAvk8nDxFk/Tem0pfTR1BI/AAAAAAAAAZk/4YP_ohgR7ao/s1600-h/013%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="013" border="0" alt="013" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-5jCseF1HClM/Tem0p57-l6I/AAAAAAAAAZo/m7AG0kCT0jo/013_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="452" height="708"></a></p> <p> <font size="5" face="Gabriola">I think this one thinks she’s hot stuff in this dress . Sold! I took it home, painted it black and added gold metallic trim. I completed it with gold letters.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> I got ready to replace the old address sign when nostalgia kicked in. I closed my eyes and began to remember all the things I loved about living at this address. The years I spent raising kids. The good times and the bad. I thought of the fruit trees I planted and later cut down. The changes I have made. And I remember the first time I painted a wall. I had never been able to paint before. It felt like freedom. I always hated renting.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola">I came from a military family. I went in the military, and even married military. In my childhood I went to more schools than I can count. Although I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world. It seems that all I wanted was a place that was mine. After moving in here, I used to tell my kids that the world officially stopped at the front door, and it did.</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola">As I looked at my new sign I realized I wanted to use it as a decoration for my living room. They cost</font> <font size="5">about $9.40 for a gross.</font></font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> I use a pencil sharpener on both ends of each stick to get a double point (making sure I keep each set the same length). You will still need to do a light sanding. I paint the sticks and add beads. Wide hole beads first then follow with smaller hole beads. The glitter work is once again from my new favorite craft supply described in my purse accessories post. The twine is a waxed bead cord. When finished a couple shots of sealer and let dry. I glued my beads in place with super glue. </font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Gabriola"> The reason I don’t use chop sticks are they tend to break uneven and they take too much sanding. Dowels are hard to cut and sharpen. Cuticle sticks are just right. Will try making some more once I get the super glue off my paws. I will also be trying some with charm dangler's. They could be put on a jump ring and the jump ring could be glued between beads still giving them free movement. Another thing I will be trying is making some more plain ones and decorating the sticks with those tiny water decals used for nails,(yep found a big bag I have kept since my pretty nail days). I hope you enjoy this post. Have a great week, with love from the Victorian Rabbit.</font></p> Lorriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09116071641633924142noreply@blogger.com4
