Hot Latte’ Place Mats

 

   This is a posting devoted to some really cool fabrics I bought at our Sewing Expo Show. I seldom buy much fabric unless it is something I consider to be quite impressive.   I bought a whole panel of this quilt fabric for just $3.75.   Let me show you some of the design squares before I show what I made from them.

    I bought the fabric to make kitchen items for my daughters first home.   Her entire kitchen is done in a coffee theme.   And has the feel of a true espresso café. She has many different patterns in her kitchen but all keep with a same color scheme. I used my panel of fabric to create Place mats and kitchen towels to add to her collection.   I had never made placemats before but they were very easy.   Here is my first attempt.

  I wanted to use as much of the fabric as possible to carry the theme, and when I couldn’t make another placemat I finished up with coffee towels.   She has a good sized collection of all kinds of kitchen towels but none like the ones I’ll be posting tomorrow.   Have a great week, with love from The Victorian Rabbit.

Dividing A Room

  When I bought my home I kind of thought it was cute that all the rooms ran together, but as I began decorating I realized I didn’t want every room to be decorated in the same colors. I had a huge open space in the dividing wall which ran the living room and formal dining room together. I wanted originally to put in low shutters to divide the space, but the cut out was such an odd size the shutters would have to be custom made.  This was not currently in the budget. My friend had a similar problem, she wanted to divided her living room from her kitchen. Hers also was an odd size. I got the idea to cut long thin rod iron bed posts to use as rods. I cut one for her then one for me.  She has really cute little chef curtains on one side and checks on the other.  She used clips with rings to put hers up. I just sewed mine. A piece can be purchased at Lowe’s that hangs the rods in these kind of odd spaces. Here is my version.

    All the strange lights in these pictures are from my crystal chandelier, purchased from Goodwill new and  still in the box for $11.00.

 

   I have been working on redoing my dining room It is actually my favorite room as it is where we do all birthday and family parties. It is a project long in the making.  The room used to be blue with a nautical theme. It is now in gold and coppers with a gypsy  theme.
